The Satanic Temple is a center dedicated to doing good in the community. Like real, actual good. This group is led by “empathy, reason, and advocacy,” tackling hate groups, fighting injustice, and preserving reproductive rights along the way. The Satanic Temple recently introduced a redesigned Weddings and Ceremonies Program where you can tie the knot in their Salem venue and celebrate your love however the hell you want. 

Details of the Grounds

The Satanic Temple is a downright indulgent wedding venue located near downtown Salem. In a town so rich in history, this venue still manages to stand out, offering a Victorian estate painted a deep charcoal color on the outside. Inside, things only get better. The hallways are decorated in damask wallpaper with a dramatic staircase and hidden treasures along the wall. 

For your ceremony, you can head over to the Baphomet Room, where you can get married next to their iconic Baphomet sculpture. This bronze-cast sculpture invites you to get past all your preconceived notions of beauty while inviting you to interact with it however you’d like. It’s going to give you a seriously one-of-a-kind backdrop for your wedding! 

Once you are done here, you can head over to Milton Hall for a reception. This area features ornate back wallpaper, a 19th-century marble fireplace, a gilded hardwood mirror, and artwork on all the walls. Be sure to look closely at the red curtains on the wall to see if you can spot the cornices! This venue is ready to host up to 40 guests. 

Looking for a place to get ready or stay the night after? On the top floor there is access to a beautifully decorated gothic room to rent as an add on. Make the trip all in one with the Guest Suite, ceremony and reception space at the Temple.

Photography Opportunities

I’ve gotten the chance to photograph at the Satanic Temple, and I can tell you from experience, it is a picture-perfect location! The Library is always a great spot for couple’s portraits, giving you shelves of books and posters as well as Little Nas X’s “blood sneakers.” Over in the La Voisin Chamber, you have to get a pic on the side-by-side red thrones. You can grab some pictures on the velvet furniture in the Fine Art Room, get some portraits on the stairs in the Hallway, and, of course, take some photos with Baphomet. Because you’ll be in Salem, you are going to have plenty of other historic nearby spots for legendary pics. 

Wedding Details

With the Satanic Temple, you can choose from several wedding packages that can include a ceremony or a ceremony and a reception. You will have up to two hours of rental time with a Minister of Satan to officiate your wedding. They are going to give you a customized script and offer the chance to insert your own vows. You will be able to bring in light refreshments and drinks, and use their speakers for music.
