5 Spots for Your Ohio Elopement – Embrace the Beauty of Nature & Your Love Story

Nelson-Kennedy Ledges State Park

Bride and Groom smile at mossy ledges on their elopement day in Ohio park.

Nelson-Kennedy Ledges State Park is a gorgeous, easily accessible park that offers some of the most scenic elopement spots in Ohio. If you’re looking for forested fairy tale vibes, this is the spot for you! With moss-covered ledges, unique caves, and multiple waterfalls, it’s a picturesque yet relatively small – park that will make your elopement feel like an adventure. You can exchange your vows underneath, next to, or overlooking Cascade Falls, between moss- covered rocky ledges stretching up high overhead. Additionally, you can even stand around and within exposed tree roots for an extra-earthy feel.

Headlands Beach State Park

Headlands Beach State Park is home to the Headlands Dunes State Nature Preserve and over 35 acres of sandy beaches. You and your partner can stand on a stretch of flat beach, with the blue water of Lake Eerie glowing in the distance, promising to spend forever at one another’s sides. It’s a lovely beach for a sunset ceremony, bathed in the warm glow of the sun and the water sparkling in the light. Remember, it’s a public beach, so other people may be around during popular sunset hours. If lighthouses are your thing, there are also several that you can incorporate into your elopement setting, a steadfast beacon representing your love story.

Hocking Hills

Hocking Hills State Park has over 25 miles of hiking trails and some spectacular waterfalls, making it a beautiful place for an Ohio elopement. It’s beautiful any time of year, but particularly beautiful in spring. The waterfalls are rushing and in the fall, the changing leaves are magnificent shades of red, orange, and gold.

Say “I do” at Ash Cave, whose rim resembles a horseshoe and spans 700 feet with a runoff waterfall and a valley floor of wildflowers. Rock House is a cool tunnel-like corridor of rocks situated in the middle of a cliff, with gothic-arched windows and sandstone columns. Moreover, these and several other spots are perfect for an unforgettable elopement.

The Everett Road Bridge is a beautiful, rustic-covered bridge with a lovely backdrop for exchanging vows.

There’s also the Virginia Kendall Ledges, massive stone walls made of sandstone. They give the illusion of a deep green canyon and offer some of the most incredible views in the entire park. Ohio Elopement

In conclusion, there are a few things to keep in mind if considering a State Park elopement. Remember that these are all public places. Hence, an early weekday wedding will help ensure you have a more secluded and intimate experience. Also, remember that some of these spots may require permits to elope. While they’re mostly not expensive, you definitely don’t want to be caught without one! I hope you’ll consider a beautiful Ohio elopement in one of these spectacular locations or anywhere that speaks to your love story.
