About The Akron Art Museum Wedding Venue

The Akron Art Museum has been a valued addition to the Akron community since 1924. Over the years, it has been kept alive by employees and volunteers who believed in its importance. In
the century since its doors opened, it has featured a variety of eclectic exhibits containing archeological artifacts and fine art, moving from location to location.

It lived a life as a fine arts and design school before transforming into a permanent museum in the 1960s. Today, it exists in a renovated historic structure, an old post office building in the
heart of downtown Akron. Larger than ever before, the Akron Art Museum hosts a permanent collection of artwork and rotating exhibits to keep Akron art enthusiasts engaged!

Details of the Grounds

Several unique spaces at the Akron Art Museum are perfect for hosting an event with plenty of personality. The Beatrice Knapp McDowell Grand Lobby is a spacious and stunning site with
dramatic architecture and incredible contemporary windows. This space can seat up to 300 guests, and on days when the weather participates, it also includes access to the covered Northern Ohio Golf Charities Terrace, which is perfect for a cocktail hour.

If you prefer an outdoor aesthetic, the Bud & Susie Rogers Garden offers flexible arrangements for your guests, using the beautiful backdrops of the museum and downtown Akron for your
ceremony. If you’re looking for something unique, the Charles and Jane Lehner Auditorium gives a theatre-esque space for a performative ceremony where you exchange vows on a stage.

Wedding Details

The Akron Art Museum requires you to use a caterer from their approved list. However, there are eight caterers from which to choose, each with unique offerings and a variety of pricing
options so you can find exactly what you need.

Additionally, it’s important to note that this venue is, first and foremost, a museum, and its exhibitions and displays have priority. While their events team will work hard to accommodate your event exactly how you envision it, they will not be able to install or remove any of the
artwork currently displayed in the spaces you are renting. You may want to check ahead to see which exhibit will be featured at the time of your event!
