About The LaSalle Theatre Venue

The LaSalle Theatre in Cleveland has a rich history that dates back to the years following World
War I when the nearby communities began growing quickly. Initially, the structure included a
theatre, retail stores, and apartments, quickly becoming a stylish and popular meeting place for
local socialites. The LaSalle’s theatre space was originally built in 1927 to host vaudeville
shows. It quickly began showing movies as silent films, and eventually, “the talkies” found their
popularity. The LaSalle continued showing movies until 1991 when it closed due to weakening demand for single-screen movie theatres. It went through a brief phase as an antique car museum before
being abandoned for the following decade.

In 2008, The LaSalle was designated a Cleveland landmark, saving it from demolition. Soon
after, it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places, and a major restoration began.
Renovations repaired major systems and structural decay, and they repaired their iconic marquis
out front and added modern technological improvements.

Throughout the pandemic, Phase II of the restoration included purchasing furniture, installing a
custom-designed sound system, and more. They added a commercial community kitchen into
one of the former retail spaces, and the shining gem of a theatre brought life and vibrancy to the
neighborhood once again.

Photography Opportunities

We can use some beautiful architectural features for gorgeous wedding photos! Whether we take
pictures on the stage, on the balcony, or beneath the marquis, we’ll incorporate some major
LaSalle Theatre style into your wedding photos. That said, there isn’t much picturesque outdoor
space. Still, we can wander to a nearby park or courtyard to find great outdoor spaces for
additional photos.
